Contact-Free Ultrasonic Inspection on an XY Scanner

LEAsys is XARION's turnkey 2D ultrasonic scanning system for contact-free, non-destructive testing, and the LEA product family's most straightforward system to operate.

A new sample is set up and scanned in a few steps. XARION's Laser-Excited Acoustics (LEA) technology enables fully automated ultrasonic inspection without water, gel, or sample preparation. Ultrasound is generated by short laser pulses, while the resulting acoustic response is detected in air using XARION's broadband Optical Microphone. Samples are simply placed on the scanner table; setting up a new part, running a scan, and reviewing results all take just a few steps, with fully automated scanning and analysis through LEAstudio. LEAstudio is XARION's control, data acquisition and analysis software for all LEA systems, covering everything from setting up a scan to evaluating and exporting the results.

Precision XY scanning covers flat or gently curved parts up to 3 x 3 m and detects delaminations, disbonds, porosity, cracks, and internal voids, in pulse-echo, guided-wave, or through-transmission configuration.

LEAsys is the right choice for R&D, lab, and production environments across aerospace, automotive, battery, and microelectronics wherever parts are flat or gently curved and fit on a scanner table. For components with complex 3D geometry, LEAbot is the ideal fit; for high-throughput inline inspection of large-format parts, choose LEAintegrated.
