LEAbot
Contact-Free Ultrasonic Inspection with a Mobile Cobot
LEAbot combines XARION's LEA technology with a cobot.
The cobot guides a compact, fiber-coupled inspection head along programmable 3D trajectories. It performs fully automated ultrasonic inspection without contact with the component and without any coupling media. Mounted on a mobile cart, LEAbot brings this inspection directly to components with complex geometry.
Compared to stationary, floor-mounted robot systems, LEAbot offers high mobility: The cart-mounted cobot moves to the part, rather than the part being brought to a fixed cell. It also offers high accessibility, with a compact probe that reaches tight spaces and hard-to-reach angles.
LEAbot is the right choice for complex-shaped parts that a fixed 2D scanner can't reach: curved aerospace structures, composite assemblies and adhesive joints, battery modules and welds, and MRO environments. Typical parts include honeycomb and acoustic panels, CMC structures, stringers, and inlet ducts. It detects delaminations, disbonds, porosity, cracks, and internal voids.
